Almost 10 years have passed between taking this photo and actually posting it and somehow I'm left with only one photo of the entire trip. I know I had more but after several laptops and several nights sorting photos with a few too many bevvies in my system I am reduced to this singular shot.
I'm scheduled to moved back to VIC in 2026 so I shall return... and do better lol
I was a nervous and new driver in 2016. Following that incredibly windy road left me anxious as hell.
Motorists behind me crawled up my colon and my imagination screamed with every tight bend with oncoming traffic. Not for my lack of trying but there was only one viewing platform I recall stopping at due to either the cars behind me or just no car parks being available.
Like most people I went during peak tourist season... which wasn't smart and I will never do again.
From memory I wasn't particularly impressed with the day or the drive. The sheer volume of people, the rush to take photos, the anxiety of driving those roads with continuous oncoming traffic, a few I recall went wide of the white line scaring the bejesus out of me and to add to a very overstimulating time the deafening noise of the sea and that strange motion you feel when you watch waves recede and crash forward was just a bit too much for me.
I remember being elated at the end though. I completed the journey and ticked a huge bucket list item from my list. I had lived under a rock until I started taking these trips a few months before and challenging myself and really getting out of my comfort zone was started to rebuild me after a very work driven life.
