''The Jolly Swagman'' by Aurel Ragnus (1978)
I actually found this sculpture a little creepy. It blended into the rock and tree almost a little too well and walking up to it I almost mistook it for a real person. Aurels sculpture really does have that air of vagrancy. Everything about this sculpture just oozed dark and dreary.
John (Aurel) created figures that contain elements of pathos and comedy. They have the look of Drysdale figures. Lived an insecure artist’s life. The ups and downs.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is my grandfathers sculpture! So nice to see this pop up on the internet.
