''Icarus'' 2009
I love Greek mythology so Ms Browns 'Icarus' really resonated with me.
For those who don't know the tale it pertains to an ancient Greek inventor named Daedalus who was commissioned to build The Labyrinth for the then King of Crete; Minos.
The King had angered the Gods by not sacrificing a bull and in revenge the Gods cursed the wife of Minos to lust after the bull. When the Queen begot a child to this creature Daedalus was commissioned to build a prison to host the half bull / half human child.
Instead of patting Daedalus on the back Minos imprison Daedalus and his son Icarus within the Labyrinth. The only way they could escape was building wings out of feathers and wax. Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too high as the sun would melt the wax but Icarus did not heed his fathers words. When his wings melted away Icarus fell into the ocean and drowned.
