Konstantin Dimopoulos
Dancers On A Lakefront, 2010

This sculpture absolutely enthralled me! It's kinetic, interactive and as soon as I read the words 'Appears to light up' on the plaque I knew I had to return at night.

The sculpture is representative of reeds and as the name suggests they dance (move around) when caught in the wind.

There wasn't a strong wind the day I visited but the hollow and deep clanking of them being pushed into each other gave me the impression they were quite responsive.

I'm not ashamed to admit curiosity got the better of me and I received a chuckle by some passing pedestrians as they caught me grabbing a few rods and pushing them into each other. They are extremely flimsy and I'm surprised they haven't all broken in strong winds. The deep and loud clanking these reeds made when connecting made the most delightful experience. It was worth being laughed at!

It took a few attempts to grab a decent night shot as I'm not overly familiar with my camera but I'm so glad I stuck around till night fall. It made the most magnificent display after hours.
