Rusty the BIG Tin Dog

Dowerin is home to the awesome 'Rusty Dog or the Tin Dog' as he is known in the region.

Determined to boost tourism to their town the students of Dowerin District High School begun a campaign to fundraise for their very own tourist attraction. Inspired by the history of early settlers and the seasonal tracks formed from droving animals up and down the area the high school had Rusty constructed

'Rusty Dog' was named after Tin Dog Creek, a particular track that became plagued by tinned beef cans aka 'tinned dogs' left behind from miners who began using the track on their way to the goldfields.

Rusty was completed in 2004, is 2.7m tall, 4m long and true to his name Rusty was built using a material most suited to his name.

Upon looking for an artists I've come across this article. which really excites me. I've found a post by Triple M of the finished product. How special.
