Campbelltown Public Art by Tom Bass

Tom Bass

When researching public art in Campbelltown this sculpture will dominate your search results. It's a 2006 installment depicting Mrs Elizabeth Macquarie watering her garden. I love that she's holding a watering can and a small garden has been built around her so she almost appears to be watering a garden once more.

Before she married Elizabeth went by the name of Campbelltown in which the small city is named after. Elizabeth was renowned for her irises and is said to distribute them among the settlers when accompanying her husband on official visits.

Mrs Macquarie keeps vigil over her irises in the middle of Mawson Park
