The Rocks | Jason Wing

Jason Wing The artwork is titled 'Pemulwuy - "Butu Wargun"' It's a 2021 mural honoring the memory of Pemulwuy, an Aboriginal leader thought to have united clans against British colonization. Jason Wing has completed a colorful version of Pemulwuy in Kingsgrove for the Canal to Creek project and it makes a wonderful addition to Nurses Walk within The Rocks.

Belconnen's favorite penis shaped owl!

Look closely! Do you see it? It's probably not what Bruce Armstrong intended when designing his owl tribute for Belconnen but this sculpture, one of Canberra's most prominent BIG Things, has been nicknamed 'The Penis Owl' It's simply titled 'Owl' though and it was created in 2011 based off the Australian Powerful Owl Ninox Strenua. The BIG owl is positioned in the middle of a median strip on the Corner of Belconnen Way & Benjamin Way. Parking's a bit rough for this area so I'd strongly suggest parking at 6 Ware Pl, Belconnen. It's a 30 second walk to the sculpture and a safe place to park.

Bondi Beach (Icebergs) - Lister & NOTNOT (03/09/2020)

Lister & NOTNOT I was met with construction crews when walking this stretch of a road a year after my first visit. I was and wasn't surprised to see three murals by Lister painted over but there were other murals missing so it perhaps had more to do with upgrades than social politics. There were still two murals here which weren't there a year ago by Lister and NONOT. Lister painted a mural in hues of blue. It appeared to be a scene from early settlement with strange and aggressive looking characters representing British forces while NOTNOT created a smiley face to replace another face expressing.. exasperation ? I hope to visit Bondi just before or after xmas so time will tell what will be waiting for me next time.
