I missed photographing this sculpture the last time I was in Zetland. The entire area was under extensive development and hoardings blocked pedestrian access to it. I was glad to see the area near completion and I was able to finally pay it a visit.

The 2021 artwork
comprises of two oversized 'Bangala', which is also the title of the artwork. Bangalas were often made from bark and fronds from a bangala tree and used by Aboriginal people to transport water. This sculpture features a pair of bark made bangala's where the artists have incorporated the significance of the sites location, the Aquatic center, and purpose of the bangala to create an extremely clever and beautiful water feature within the gardens.
