Walgett Street Art by Jenny McCracken & Frank Wright

Another painted water tower I neglected to check the back of. I would strongly suggest you check the back for more artwork if you happen by Walgett on your travels.

This tower stands next to the local PCYC on the corner of Dewhurst and Pitt Streets. It features the portrait of Jimmy Little.

The name sounded familiar so I gave it a quick google and ended up on both Wikipedia and Youtube. I'm not into slow country music but Jimmy, born James, had a very smooth voice and a pleasantly optimistic demeanor and mindset.

It took me awhile to discover why Jimmy Little was painted in Walgett as he was born in NSW and spent most of his life in Sydney and later years in Dubbo. Little's wife, Marjorie Rose Peters, was born in Walgett, they were married in Walgett and when Marorie passed away in 2011 and Jimmy in 2012, both were buried in Walgett.
