Techy Mesero
This is one turtly amazing sculpture. He was commissioned to celebrate the new estate of Lyons, which was established in 2004.
Colin the Turtle was created by Techy Merero with the assistance of a handful of Larrakia Nation artists
The artwork is officially titled 'Rock Waterhole and Sea Turtle' however local residents refer to this playful landmark as 'Colin' thanks to Google Maps
Due to Googles ability to suggest map edits local residents periodically suggest name changes.
Colin the Sea Turtle has in the past been named Frank, Malcolm and Pete on Google Maps which confused me at one point thinking I had his name wrong this whole time.
Colin the sea turtle is 1.5m tall and 4m long and was decorated by James Gaston, Peter Browne, Dianne (Deede) Quall, Dotty Fejo, Jocelyn Archer.
