Werribee | BIG Emu's Feet

Vicki Couzins The Governments initiative to remove all entry level train crossings resulted in the bridge being constructed. The council approved this wonderful example of how public art can coexist and really compliment urban development by disguising what would ordinarily be boring pillars into an extraordinary delight of culture. These giant emu feet have yet to take off in the BIG Thing circuit but I imagine it won't take long for photographers to begin adding this item to their itineraries and begin circulating photos. The Sculpture was made or was designed by Vicki Couzins and claims the site was a meeting place of emus, hence the emu feet and surrounding embellishments. The site shares space with a modest skate park and is close to the main street. I lived in Werribee for most of my teenage years and remember this area being rather run down and rather unappealing. Belconnen's favorite penis shaped owl!

Look closely! Do you see it? It's probably not what Bruce Armstrong intended when designing his owl tribute for Belconnen but this sculpture, one of Canberra's most prominent BIG Things, has been nicknamed 'The Penis Owl' It's simply titled 'Owl' though and it was created in 2011 based off the Australian Powerful Owl Ninox Strenua. The BIG owl is positioned in the middle of a median strip on the Corner of Belconnen Way & Benjamin Way. Parking's a bit rough for this area so I'd strongly suggest parking at 6 Ware Pl, Belconnen. It's a 30 second walk to the sculpture and a safe place to park.

Ultimo | Mulga the Artist

Mulga 2016 I don't think I've ever come across an artist who puts more effort into their work than Mulga does. I enjoy everything about the artists work, from the visual treat to the strange story he gives every character. The artist has 2.8k posts on Instagram and while not all his posts are murals every.single.mural has it's own story. I like the investment. I often wonder why or what the artist was thinking when they paint.
