Sydney pales in public art compared to Melbounrne. I am finding though that the art Sydney does have seems to be somewhat more unique and sentimental.
Forgotten Song is a tribute to the former occupants who were pushed out and habitats destroyed.
This display started off as a temporary exhibit but after a great deal of support and public approval the city of Sydney made it permanent and now displays around 120 birdcages. I sorely wish I could have uploaded my video as the birdcages arnt just visual;they're also audio.
Fitted to all or most of these cages are a recording of birds singing and as you stand in awe or walk the lane you are reminded of the birds that once inhabited this area and their forgotten songs.
