Wineglass Bay

Whaley not what I was expecting

Wineglass Bay

Wineglass Bay

I didn't enjoy this experience.

I'll admit I'm a fairly impatient person. I've worked in Hospitality for about 8 years and have a naturally quick step, It's not natural for me to walk slowly and climbing up a walking track behind hoards of people all taking their time on a hot day truly felt like a trap.

I understand everyone has their own pace, but I like consistency. There was no rhythm and if we managed to pass someone and sorted out a good pace it wasn't long till we were stuck behind someone else. It was hot, the climb was quite hard in itself but the stop /starting made it almost unbearable.

I was expecting to be met with a beach but the walk ended on a viewing platform with 50 other people all squashed together. I felt the view wasn't worth the climb and if we had time in our itinerary I would have liked to walk to the actual beach and camp there over night. Sadly this wasn't on our cards.

Wine glass bay has an interesting history. It's so named that back in the day when whales were culled the bay would pool the blood and the bay itself would be awash with blood. Reminds me of the Horrible History books I use to buy.

I don't know if that rock was intended to look like a whale but it looked like a whale lol. The rock was the highlight of that experience.
