Robert Klippel |
My art tastes have come long way since moving to Sydney. My first walk through Sydney I never noticed this sculpture. I was drawn to it instantly during my last stroll and wondered how I missed it in the first place. The photo turned out beautifully and the purple Jacaranda's really add a stark contrast to the sculpture making it even more intriguing to me.
It's called 'The Beacon' It was created by Robert Klippel, acquired by one James Fairfax and gifted to the City of Sydney as a 150th anniversary gift. The gift commemorates Sydney Cities first Council meeting and sits humbly in First Fleet Park
