I knew what I was looking for when I rode to this area and it strange how something so big can often be so overlooked and almost appear out of no where. I was expecting something smaller and was overjoyed by this gigantic ladder by artist Imants Tillers.
The artist states the ladder is fairly self explanatory. The ladder when climbed leads to ascension. It's a climb, an obstacle and a challenge to overcome. The artwork is titled 'The Attractor' and like most of the artworks in Cathy Freeman Park I suspect it was created or at least unveiled in 2000 to coincide with the Olympic Games as a lasting tribute.
