A monument dedicated to William Bede Dalley, an Australian politician and barrister.
Like many first generation Australian's Dalley was a child born of two convict parents. He took advantage of the education system and rather than leaving school and working in a drapery as he intended he was persuaded by a friend to continue study and later became one of Australia's first born politicians.
This is one of many sculptures found within Hyde Park including
- Governor Lachlan Macquarie
- Archibald Fountain
- Sandringham Memorial
- Busby's Bore Fountain
