BIG Black Dog

I've never really understood someone's desire to obtain a world record for a frivolous reason but Corrigin drummed up an idea and had fun with it. 1527 Utes, each accompanied by a dog participated in the event. Pretty impressive for a town population of 903.

St Arnaud was the first town to hold the event with a total of 214 doggos back in 1997, followed by Terang, VIC with 325. Corrigin followed suit in 1998 with a record of 699 but it was short lived with Warrnambool holding an event in 2000 with a record of 797 dogs.

In 2002 Corrigan eclipsed Warrnambool with a huge fundraising event. Along with a World Record of 1527 dogs... and utes they also raised $20,000 for the RFDS. To this day Corrigins record still stands.
