Haymarket Public Art | Memory Lines by Ingrid Skirka

Ingrid Skirka

This was a surprise! Surprised it's not on the City of Sydney Art map. Slackers!
It's a beautiful sculpture, I spotted it all the way from Jason Wings, 'In Between Two Worlds' and it really drew me in.

Ingrid was commissioned by the Labor Council to create a memorial in recognition of all workers who have never made it home from work or have perish at the hands of a work related disease. The solid round disc represents the lifecycle of the average worker while the void, pierced by arching steel rods, reflect the void produced from the loss of a loved one and the memories they leave behind.

Memory Lines was unveiled on the Workers International Day of Mourning
