The Rocks was the first suburb I ever explored and it wasn't the most extensive walk. It was a very casual 'Mat just moved to Sydney so lets enjoy a swanky walk through a section of our his new city' People were everywhere, food vendors were frying up delicious goodies and while we waited for our squid skewers to cook I photographed this sculpture.
The sculpture titled 'First Impressions' depicts three silhouettes carved into sandstone. The Soldier, The Settlers & The Convict and was commissioned by Bud Dumas in 1979. The sculpture is symbolic of European settlement and first European settlers.
