At the center of Dalley Street you'll find this strange spectacle.

It's called 'Underwood Arc' and is a 2017 install.

Michael was one of four students who received funding to create an idea to revitalize Underwood Street. His concept to take a 10m long eucalypt tree, strip the bark and branches, leaving only the root and suspend it sideways won the commission.

McIntyre suspended the tree sideway to symbolize an ark. At one end you'll find bare branches and the other, deep roots.

'Underwood Ark' is a symbol of what was. The area was once shrubbery and tree's and now, due to development, is a concrete zoo.
