'In Her Hands' is a tribute to Indigenous artist Esme Timbery. Esme is a widely recognized artist within the community of Randwick council to which the UNISW has named its science wing after.
The mural was painted in 2020 and is a temporary installment set to be one of many featured within the labs entry way.
Featured is a pair of hands clutching a sea shell. It stems from a childhood memory of Esme where a simple act of collecting shells on a beach with her family brought her great joy and mentality. Sea shells are a reoccurring theme within Esme's work and this is how the designers of the UNISW have chosen to honor her legacy and contribution to the community.
