These two fighting goannas are the creation of Claire Murphy of Claire Murphy Metal Art. She was commissioned by the Bassingthwaighte family, the new proprietors of the the Barkly Homestead Roadhouse and this marvelous sculpture was installed on the 17th of Nov, 2022.
Now, the Barkley Homestead doesn't have much in the way of an address but these magnificent goannas are unmissable and will mark the entrance for the homestead should you need a break. We stopped here for lunch and had a burger and a cold drink which was sorely needed after a hot day in the car.
My 11 month old wasn't too happy about the sunshine in her face but I'm glad I took this photo! This is Mallys 3rd BIG Thing Photo! Go Mally Go!
